Bruce Sherman of North Pond will be hosting a special dinner, “The Modern Midwestern Table,” Wed., Nov. 9 at the restaurant.

He will be joined by Steve Plotnicki, author of Opinionated About U.S. Restaurants 2011, along with fellow chefs Josh Adams of June (Peoria), Justin Aprahamian of Sanford (Milwaukee, Wisc.), Michael Bulkowski of Revolver (Findlay, Ohio) and Gerard Craft of Niche (St. Louis, Mo.) to create an artisan-focused dinner with the best of Midwestern foods.

I found this particularly interesting to me for several reasons, namely two: one, I am a fan of Bruce Sherman’s and two, he submitted a recipe for my upcoming book, The Chicago Chef’s Table due out in the Spring which, incidentally has a similar subtitle: “the best of modern Midwestern cuisine.” Chef Sherman’s recipe was a poached farm egg with corn pancakes and onion pipérade.

The dinner details:

Wed., Nov 9 6:30 p.m.

2610 N. Cannon Drive

$120 per person, wine pairings available

(773) 477-5845 to reserve
